About Us

The Hudson Police Working Dog Foundation’s goal is to support our two amazing canines, Murf and Jocko.

Jocko is a six-year-old Belgian Malinois and a traditional police dog. He is trained by Officer Sam Leandres, and his purpose is to find people or objects. Jocko and Officer Leandres completed training at the Boston Police K9 Academy. Jocko was paid for with a grant from the Stanton Foundation of New York and Cambridge.

Murf is an 18-month-old Golden Retriever and a community support dog. Detective Chad Crogan trains Murf, and Murf’s purpose is to comfort people at the senior center, schools, or events. Murf completed one year of training. The Hudson Police Department received an anonymous donation to purchase the Murf and pay for the training, which saved the department about $20,000. Additionally, the Hudson Animal Hospital is donating services.

The Hudson Police Department is proud of the training and the performance of these canines and their handlers, who provide valuable services to the Hudson community.
